This weekend was an absolute whirlwind of sightseeing wonders!
We began with a day trip into Bavaria to see the Eagle’s Nest area, Koenigsee, Berchtesgaden, and other fantastic spots!
This part of the world is beyond beautiful. Pictures cannot do it justice, but try to use your imagination.
The Germans call this area “the throne of the Gods.” Hitler himself had headquarters in this spot. I was in awe the entire time.
The next day, we all took a train for a day trip to Munich! Little did I know that this was the opening day of Oktoberfest… but I’m sure glad we were there!
I spent a good part of the afternoon searching for the PERFECT Dirndl (traditional dress), and eventually found one that I am in love with! I felt so incredibly authentic strolling through Oktoberfest with all the people in Dirndls and Lederhosen.
Side note: I think we all thought that Lederhosen would look incredibly goofy on men. However, we were incredibly surprised to discover that Lederhosen can actually look VERY attractive! ;)
Here are some shots from that fabulous day of people watching, eating, riding rides, and of course tasting beer!
Today, after a delightfully long sleep and a beautiful rainy lazy morning at home, I went with a small group on a “Sound of Music” tour in the Austrian lake district!
We saw so many beautiful places.
Austria is just so hard to believe. There is so much beauty, the entire country feels like a dream in itself.
I am so happy to be here!
Coming soon: an insider’s look at Sound of Music sights!
